We pick you up at your accommodation and begin driving up the mountain toward Terreiro da Luta (876 m), where you can enjoy a historic monument and a beautiful view over Funchal. From here, we continue into the Funchal Nature Reserve, where the landscape shifts dramatically with every minute of elevation. You may also visit the small Nature Reserve Museum and take a quick look at the historic Levada do Murray from 1784.
The road then climbs toward Pico do Arieiro (1,810 m), one of Madeira’s highest peaks. We stop here for 40 minutes, giving you time to enjoy the dramatic mountain scenery and panoramic views often floating above the clouds.
On the descent, we pause at Levada da Serra do Faial for a short, flat walk — a simple and accessible way to see Madeira’s traditional water‑supply system without committing to a hike.
Our final stop is the charming village of Camacha, known for hosting the first football match ever played in Portugal. Here, you can enjoy a break at a local coffee shop, admire the flowers in the main square, or visit a beautiful centenary chapel.
This route has been carefully redesigned to ensure a smooth experience and to avoid the crowds, allowing you to enjoy Madeira’s mountains at a relaxed and comfortable pace.
We finish by dropping you off at your hotel or anywhere in the Funchal city center.
